Cross stitch stocking, Crochet balloon, and Finches

Here is project number one. I have made a cross stitch stocking for two of my children and this is the start for number three. It takes a very long time to finish, especially when it is not my sole focus, but I like to see the progress. This is where it was when I last took its picture (I have made more progress on it now). Here is what it will be someday.

I finished this hot-air balloon crochet project yesterday. It is a gift for my friend who just had a baby. I remember her looking through my amigurumi book and stopping at this one. I hope she likes it! The pattern is found in Amigurumi Two by Ana Paula Rimoli. I have made a number of her patterns for my children. They are fun, though a lot bigger than I thought they would be when I bought the book!

And finally, here is a picture from my kitchen window. These are finches, of course, and we have about five who frequent this bird feeder together. I sure enjoy watching them! This spring I plan to put out some hummingbird feeders to hopefully attract one to our yard.

Now that I'm done with my crochet present I have lots of other things to begin. First on my list is sewing my first-ever dress! I have fabric and a pattern and tonight I plan to iron, pin, mark, and cut. Wish me luck!
